As Director, External R&D, Scientific Collaborations you will be the scientific interface between GSK vaccine scientists and the external scientific community cultivating relations and emerging vaccine projects with universities, external funders, and pharma organizations, to prescreening those potential partners. Responsibilities:
Define the best potential scientific partner's network for the US RDC. Engage with the academic groups with the highest scientific excellence standards. Proactive identification, reception, scientific analysis and pre-screening of Opportunities. Decision on best R&D experts that could potentially be interested in the Opportunity and could review it for decision. Collaborate with Opportunities Manager for the creation of opportunities (sent to/received by External R&D team) in database and ensure timely evaluation by experts Contact with Universities and Biotech to proactively identify opportunities and to feed-back on opportunities evaluation - build and sustain scientific network Needs:
Definition of a vaccine and technology projects needs collection process (short-, mid and long-term vision) with focus on the US RDC portfolio. Consolidation of a map of these needs by meeting with all R&D stake holders (RDC, DPU, VDL,) Organize and lead ideation sessions to collect needs and dreams. Participate to the preparation and regular update of a Strategic Document summarizing needs in the light of R&D strategy. Validation by R&D management team. Support the development of a Post-Doc program for the US RDC (in collaboration with the other Post-Doc programs and with the GSK Science Academy). In coordination with External Funding Managers and Directors, initiate new collaborative projects supported by external funding and ensure alignment on ways of working and coordination with externally funded activities at the other RDC's. Close collaboration with External R&D colleagues focusing on the other RDC's will be essential. Serve as US RDC's primary point of contact for External R&D (RDC Partner). Represent External R&D on the RDC Project Leadership Team and Site Management Committee. Represent GSK on boards of local organizations that have mission to support R&D and/or workforce development in areas of interest to GSK. Develop and implement strategies for seeking funding from US government agencies (such as BARDA, NIH, and DARPA) to advance GSK's R&D priorities. Maintain strong connections with R&D leaders within the US government to understand their priorities and seek opportunities for alignment with GSK's areas of interests. Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
PhD (Immunology, Infectious Disease, Vaccinology) 5 to 10 years in Vaccines R&D-experience developing scientific collaborations and partnerships. Good scientific background in order to be able to build the scientific network as well as to analyze, pre-screen and understand opportunities and collaborations as well as needs (both projects and technologies). Good knowledge and understanding of GSK global scientific and product development strategy and objectives. Integrate this knowledge in decisions and recommendations. Good presentation skills and multidisciplinary team animation/leadership Excellent Time Management, ability to clearly identify priorities and manage multiple tasks. Preferred

Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
