We are currently seeking a Scientific Policy Analyst to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD.

Responsibilities:
A Scientific Policy Analyst in the Office of Strategic Coordination (OSC) will provide support for strategic planning, legislative activities, and reporting for the Common Fund.
The candidate helps develop and implement strategies to identify potential new Common Fund programs, including gathering ideas from NIH senior leaders and interested stakeholders, coordinating prioritization and discussion of ideas, and communicating the outcomes of the planning process.
They prepare materials for congressional inquiries, hearings, and reports, as well as the annual Congressional Justification.
They develop responses to numerous data calls, summarizing scientific, policy, and budgetary information across all Common Fund programs.
Analyzes complex scientific variables used to prepare various reports that impact the planning and outcome of the research program.
Collects, analyzes and assimilates data to provide a rational basis for research, health, and social policy and program decisions relating to ethical, legal and social implications.
Advises management about public policy issues and provides recommendations for appropriate action.
Attends various staff and scientific meetings providing reports as requested.
Provides expert guidance to management about public policy issues and provides recommendations for appropriate action.
Coordinates the daily workload of junior staff.
Plans and presents at meetings regarding current and new initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
Masters degree in Biochemical Sciences, Biology, Neuroscience, Business Management and Administration, or related disciplines Preferred Software:
Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint Excellent strategic planning and writing skills Understanding of congressional testimony, legislative, and scientific methodologies Recommended Skills Administration Biology Business Management Communication Ethics Microsoft Excel Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
