DutiesWHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAYAs an Public Health Advisor (Communications), you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Serves as a health communications specialist responsible for working closely with the 988 chief communications officer on the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of major, complex public health communication and marketing programs and campaigns.
Provides counsel and expertise to program staff and management officials on communication and marketing principles and methods, and their application and evaluation.
Leads the communications team on the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of major national or international communication and marketing content, programs, projects, and strategies for audiences, including innovative demonstration projects.
Directs and guides development, testing, and timely dissemination of science- and audience-based products, tools, and messages to different audiences in a variety of formats (i.
e.
, print, video, Web).
Provides technical authority in the development and review of policy and procedural issuances from the Department, Operation Divisions (OPDIVs), and the employing organization.
Reviews and comments on proposed changes in rules or regulations, conducts special studies, and prepares position papers and special reports.

Basic Requirements for all Public Health Program Specialist Series, 0685 positions require that you demonstrate specialized experience in each of the following five competencies:
Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities.
Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings.
Knowledge of a specialized public health program.
Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions.
Skill in oral and written communication, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials.

You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position.
To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:
- Providing expert consultation and technical expertise in the creation of strategic and integrated plans andstrategies for public health communication and marketing programs, campaigns, and activities.
- Developing approaches and solutions that accommodate urgent social and economic concerns.
- Evaluating legislation and the impact on public health program activities, initiatives, and policies.
