Quality Assurance Manager

Job Description:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager serves a critical function, reporting to the Director of Service Management in the Operations and Infrastructure Organization.

This position will have expertise in software and systems quality assurance technology and apply this to the development, execution and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practice; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs.
The QA Manager will be a leader in project discussions and advocate for quality and process improvement, and will have the ability to negotiate solutions that do not compromise quality but still meet project objectives, timelines and budgets. A high degree of self-organizational skills will be required to manage QA activities across multiple projects and communicate status to all levels of the organization.
A QA Manager will be expected to have superior proficiency in the following areas:
Supervise all QA activities and deliverables using an internal and contract testing staff
Design, create, and execute comprehensive test strategies and plans for systems and product releases
Plan, communicate and interact with all levels of IT and business users and management
Certify the quality of product releases against established and defined criteria
Work with development, support and training teams to drive the resolution of identified quality issues
Research, recommend, develop and maintain processes for software and system testing
Research, recommend, develop and track metrics for monitoring software and system quality
Make recommendations and implement quality process improvements and enhancements
Verify and validate updates and enhancements by executing test cases and use cases
Identify, log and track issues related to product quality, examine root causes for defects from a process perspective to eliminate future rework or issues
Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting as requested
Coordinate and manage the schedules for quality and testing environment refreshes and assures environment integrity
Develop project plans, resource plans and budgets for QA activities in support of product releases

Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor s Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science or other relative Technical Degree (equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree)
8+ years related experience with a strong understanding of QA methodologies and software development lifecycles, with prior QA Lead Experience
10+ years working in an IT environment
Experience with Load Runner software testing and tracking tools
Experience performing all aspects of test management including test execution, environment preparation and management and defect tracking and analysis across multiple initiatives
Strong knowledge of unit, system, integration, performance and regression testing best practices and methodologies
Experience with developing and managing the execution of test plans and test cases
Experience with manual and automated regression and performance testing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience managing and leading outsourced teams and/or contract teams
Experience analyzing, designing, implementing and measuring the effectiveness of process improvement activities
Ability to act quickly in a crisis situation to make decisions and keep key constituents informed of the situation
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate technically and in business terms when required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
