SRA International is seeking to hire a Senior Server Systems Engineer. This full-time job opportunity will be located at our customer site, NCI (National Cancer Institute), in Rockville,
maryland
.
The successful candidate will manage, define, design, and develop system requirements. Performs trade-off analyses of performance, life-cycle cost, risk, producibility, and other system or program requirements. Assesses architecture and current hardware limitations, defines and designs system specifications, and evaluates input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Defines system support requirements to include monitoring, capacity, staffing, patching and upgrades. Analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Conducts independent technical investigations in systems design. Evaluates vendor capabilities using processes similar to DAR to provide required products or
services
. Performs engineering studies and analysis, analyze system problems in support of development; develop system implementation and integration solutions. Develops concepts, provide requirements analysis, perform modeling and simulations, cost estimations, cost benefit analysis, familiar with engineering standards, industry best practices and vendor road maps. COTS hardware and software interoperability, new technologies assessments, statistical studies, predictive analysis, project planning, script development, etc. Maintains system requirements, maintain system specifications and manuals, develops new system requirements, supports technical change boards, develops and facilitates business processes, performs system performance and data analysis, provide corrective system resolutions, collects and analyzes statistical data, project planning, risk identification and mitigation strategy, cost estimations, cost benefit analysis, COTS interoperability analysis, network connectivity resolution, develops and manages software baselines as well as software obsolescence.
Job
Responsibilities:
o Develops Standard operating procedures and work Instructions and ensure staff comply
o Oversees the Installation of new server hardware and software according to standard operating procedures
o Oversees the updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security
o Oversees operational management and patch management
o Ensures systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc. are provided to Federal staff and management
o Identifies areas of improvement in process, people or technology and presents implementation plan to management
o Organizes scheduled maintenance activities on all components of relevant systems (many activities occur after normal business hours)
o Develops and documents system disaster recovery tests, in accordance with customer policy, on a quarterly basis to ensure data integrity and availability
o Keeps abreast of current developments in server technology to assist Federal staff in assessing the future direction of server technology
o Oversees the provisioning and support of servers for the tiers of applications created by Federal staff and affiliates
o Provides technical guidance and support to server engineers and administrators
o Coordinates daily with Federal staff on issues, tasks and projects

Qualifications:
o 12
years of IT knowledge and demonstrated hands-on experience and /or training in server systems engineering and administration
o Experience designing, installing and supporting server solutions and devices: physical and/or virtual
o Must possess strong organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills to effectively relate to agency and customer needs
Experience required with one or more of the following technologies:
o Windows Server (2003/2008/2012)
o Linux (RedHat)
o CentOS
o Novell eDir/Netware
Must have two or more of the following certifications:
o Microsoft Certified Master (MCM)
o Microsoft Certified Solutions Master (MCSM)
o Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
o VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX)
o Novell Certified Engineer (CNE)
o HP-ASE BladeSystem Solutions
Desired: Skills Desired Experience and Education:
o ITIL foundations certification or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months
o Master's Degree in Engineering,
computer
Science, or Information SystemsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
