About This Position:
As the Regional Meat Category Buyer, you will be responsible for carrying out the purchasing functions designed to support the category plan, including (but not limited to) the product mix, pricing strategy, promotional plans, and merchandising direction. This is a full-time salaried position based in the Mid Atlantic Central Office and reports directly to the Regional Meat Coordinator
Core Job Duties &
Responsibilities:
Replenish buying for existing products. Partner with Facility Buyers in all areas of Meat Purchasing.
Vendor program negotiation to support category plans, including rebate programs, volume programs, pricing strategies and promotional negotiation.
Promotion planning, analysis and review to develop effective item and category promotional plans.
New item sourcing, review, negotiation and roll-out strategy as specified in developed category plans.
Partner with the data team on initiatives that include clean up, maintenance, and accuracy.
Focus on delivering improved cost of goods and maximized inventory
management
including decreased inventory carrying costs and increased turns both at warehouse/distributor and store level.
Accountable for purchase, inventory level, turns, SKU count and other budgets and benchmarks as required.
Review and Analyze competition and market trend including comp reporting.
Communicate effectively with National Meat Buyers, offer constructive feedback on National programs, and effectively implement regional Meat private label program.
Organize and hold meetings with Store Meat Buyers
Lead the pursuit of local meat products for the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Help create a fun, exciting and positive atmosphere in our departments for customers and Team Members alike.
Improve and develop win/win partnerships with our vendor community.
About You- Minimum Requirements:

Must have a commitment to accuracy and excellence.
Must have a minimum of 3 years in a progressive meat industry with retail experience or a purchasing background equivalent, multi-store preferred.
Must be a proven leader in a Meat Team environment of at least 3 years.

Broad-based culinary knowledge.
Strong understanding of the natural and organic meat industry.
Ability to effectively manage portfolio pricing and promotion strategy to deliver consistent value to the customer and meet team financial goals.
Strong
computer
skills to include Microsoft Suite: ie. Excel and Word
Basic understanding or ability to learn a Meat Transformation Tool (or related).
Excellent analytical, organization and prioritization skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Ability and commitment to participate effectively in building a strong regional and purchasing team.
Ability to effectively support team, regional, and national vision.
Ability and flexibility to travel as needed (mostly within the Mid-Atlantic region).
Essential Job Functions:
Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.
Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
