The unit secretary works under the direction of the charge nurse and staff nurse to perform secretarial / clerical duties associated with the clinical functioning of a unit. He / she is responsible for processing physician / extender s orders, communication, and other general duties. He / she must be able to organize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining excellent customer service. Actions and attitude that contributes to the critical success factors of the organization (i.e. Best place to work, most extraordinary experience, superior outcomes, financial success for reinvestment, valued as a faith-based organization, and a growing organization vital to the community).
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
High school diploma / GED
Strong communication skills / organizational skills required.
Ability to prioritize effectively.
Training in data entry of clinical systems preferred.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology required.
Proficient in PC, Internet and email required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
