Overview
The Administrative Support I provides shipping and receiving support for the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including:

Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance. Determines efficient shipping method, selects appropriate shipping container, and packs items to ensure safe delivery. Checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination and routing are correct. Provides Training Officer with shipping confirmation and tracking number.
Receives and unloads incoming materials. Compares information on packing slip to verify accuracy of shipment.
Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks and/or logs inventory of items shipped or received. Inspects shipments for damages or defects. Records discrepancies or damages, and notifies Training Officer and/or Manager. Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the Training Officer/Manager.
Delivers items to the Training Officer/Manager requisitioning team, and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Keeps an adequate supply on hand at all times.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers, or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers using fillers and protective padding. Identifies shipping information and affixes shipping labels on packed cartons. Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, and records any shortages. Corresponds with Training Officer/Manager to rectify damages and shortages.
Traces lost shipments, and initiates proof of delivery documents for shipping / receiving records.
Maintains department database, prepares routine reports, and files shipping / receiving records.
Follows established departmental policies / procedures / objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety / environmental standards.
Prints and distributes CDs; also prints training manuals and/or books.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum two (2) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education / experience; with one (1) year of directly related experience preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures
Working knowledge of automation and computing practices used in shipping, receiving and materials handling functions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to read, write and follow instructions
Ability to utilize effective computer skills in a Microsoft Windows / Office environment (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to interpret packing slips and to acknowledge receipt of goods by correctly entering information into computer system
Ability to receive, track and distribute materials / supplies / equipment
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
