Heath Science Compliance Specialist

Serves as a Health Science Compliance Specialist with responsibility for ensuring PHS-funded research institutions and programs are compliant with various PHS regulations covering a variety of ORI program areas. Contributes to education and outreach efforts, regarding content related to institutional compliance, for integration into and across ORI's policies and distribution channels. Reviews and evaluates PHS funded institutions' compliance, as appropriate with PHS regulations. Conducts policy analyses and derives outcome assessments that inform and modernize ORI's approach to scientific compliance and identifies opportunities for potential regulatory or procedural changes. Develops, recommends, and enforces HHS compliance actions in accordance with the PHS policies. Applies professional health science and research expertise to the design, development, and implementation of surveillance and compliance efforts for a variety of public health and scientific research initiatives. Possess a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree:
major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.(transcripts must be submitted by the closing of the announcement, see below for more details) Specialized
Experience:
GS-13:
You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service that includes the following:
Reviewing and/or evaluating policies or regulations related to the integrity of research; Leading or conducting assessments of compliance with organizational policies and/or other relevant rules and regulations related to the integrity of research; Advising stakeholders on compliance with public health services policies; Developing and/or implementing methods to evaluate program effectiveness or research; and Communicating with internal and/or external stakeholders and at regional, national or other meetings or conferences on topics related to compliance or the integrity of research. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
