Administrative Assistant

As an Administrative Assistant with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, you will perform a wide range of administrative and secretarial functions in order to support the operations of your office. Such duties include but are not limited to:
Typing, proofreading, and editing a variety of technical, scientific, and other government documents and official correspondence in accordance with standards, guidelines, and agency procedures. Reviewing incoming correspondence, announcements, and other mail. Utilizing a variety of software programs (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.) in performing assigned work. Maintaining automated tracking or ticket systems for proper handling of controlled correspondence and action items. Answering telephone calls from a variety of customers and greeting visitors. Managing and maintaining supervisors' calendars and scheduling meetings and events. Coordinating work assignments and office coverage with other administrative staff to ensure mission accomplishment and to support a collaborative work environment. Making travel arrangements, preparing travel authorizations and vouchers, within prescribed timeframes. Preparing electronic time and attendance records. Completing other duties as assigned. In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least 4 years of progressively responsible experience, beyond high school, performing a wide range of administrative and secretarial functions such as preparing correspondence, scheduling appointments, arranging travel, etc., one year which must be equivalent to the GS/GG-7 grade level in the Federal service.The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
Knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and correspondence procedures; ability to work efficiently in handling multiple assignments; ability to deal tactfully with various levels of personnel; ability to work within a team environment or as a lead administrative assistant; and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and appointment calendar. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
